Masakage (昌 景) is a premium Japanese kitchen‑knife brand founded in 2007 by master sharpener Takayuki Shibata. Based in Takefu Knife Village, Fukui Prefecture, Shibata’s vision was to unify the talents of veteran blacksmiths under one label – selecting work from artisans like Anryu, Kato, Kurosaki, and others – and then personally performing the final sharpening.

The brand name “Masakage” means “bright view”, reflecting its mission to showcase the extraordinary craftsmanship of its makers. Each knife is hand‑forged by these master smiths and then hand‑sharpened to razor quality by Shibata – famed for his elite skills. These knives are known for long edge retention, beautiful aesthetics, and exceptional performance.
